Dear Friends,
You may be wondering why I’m taking Amtrak all the way to Pennsylvania to encourage people to vote for Harris & Walz. Primarily, it’s because when this election is over, I want to know I have done all I could possibly do to be sure Trump is not elected. I feel like we are on a precipice of change, and either candidate will be ushering in a HUGE disruption to the status quo, not only for the United States, but for the entire world. To put it simply, if Trump is elected, I honestly think we’re looking at the end of civilization, and if Harris wins, we’re looking at a whole new world in which women will take on leadership roles and men will slowly fade into the background.
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, so hopefully Pennsylvanians will appreciate who I am and the effort I have made to arrive on their doorstep. I also think they’ll appreciate my having taken Amtrak to get there … all the way from California … to keep my carbon footprint low. Even though it costs about half as much to fly, I wanted to set a good example by taking the train. I also look forward to working with Seed the Vote https://seedthevote.org/, an organization set up specifically to help Democrats win in Swing States.
I look forward to giving Kamala Harris my HUGE sugar pine cone and asking her to make Climate Change a high priority in her administration. In addition to the pine cone, I will be presenting her with a notebook signed and illustrated by people I meet along the way. Kamala is a real people person, so I’m guessing if I can get both of these items into the White House, even if they’re presented to her indirectly by an Aide, they might just make a difference. And if they don’t, at least it makes me feel good to know I tried.
Tirelessly Optimistic,
❤️ Jes
