I went to the “Ice Out for Good” rally in Santa Rosa yesterday. I’m going to be honest with you. I needed that rally. Renee Good’s execution by the ICE agent in Minneapolis hit me hard. I wanted to surround myself with other people who cared about this sanctioned murder of a mother of three … and as fate would have it, I stumbled upon someone who was a big part of my life 50 years ago. Anna, Gaia, and I (and eventually 30 other wonderful staff members) established one of the first vegetarian restaurants in Sonoma County, the Blue Heron Inn. Who would have guessed we’d both be fighting for our democracy so many years later.
