Dear Friends,
Last Thursday, I brought something new to the “Good Trouble Lives On” rally in Santa Rosa: the Heart Cart—a rolling symbol of love, courage, and peaceful resistance. One side features a spinning heart that reads “Purple for Peace”. The other tells the story of the Gandhi Puppet and the GandhiMobile—icons of nonviolent protest through the years.
I kept handing out purple armbands and encouraging everyone to embrace nonviolence at these rallies. The response? Overwhelmingly positive. People get it. They feel it. “Purple for Peace” is striking a chord.
Right now, the Heart Cart sits atop my car—rolling through town as a mobile message of hope. It’s also a reminder of something powerful: the 3.5% Rule. Social scientist Erica Chenoweth found that every nonviolent movement that engaged at least 3.5% of the population succeeded. Every single one. Read more here.
That’s why I’m asking you:
Join us at the next rally. Wear a purple armband. Speak up. Show up.
Who knows—maybe you are the person who pushes us past that tipping point.
