Dear Friends,
Like many of you, I was struck with awe by the election results. I fully expected to be moving into a new age of empowered women, but apparently, we still need to move slowly. And the future? As you can imagine, I’m a little reluctant to predict, but I see a lot of discontent arising from Trump’s supporters once they realize they’ve been bamboozled.
Meanwhile, I still have my pine cone. I wanted to give it to Kamala at her rally in Philadelphia, but was refused entry because security was concerned I would use it as a “projectile”. Fair enough … so now I have a calling card for my own advocacy work regarding Climate Change awareness.
As you may know, I was a substitute teacher for fifteen years in Marin. I have a teaching credential from Dominican University, but chose to be a substitute teacher instead … this allowed me to continue being a full-time activist. In 2015, I was presented with the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award by the Marin County Human Rights Commission, and as a result, I was given a Ford F-150, which I converted into the GandhiMobile. For the details of this, please go to https://gandhimobile.org/ and click on Gandhi‘s head (the head surrounded by roses). I‘m still often called the “Gandhi Guy”.
I am looking for a partner to join me. If educating high school students about Climate Change speaks to you, please get in touch … or if you have a friend who might be interested, please forward this email to her.
Best wishes to all of you during these challenging times.
Peace & Love,
Jes
